@41tx
I'm floored. We are losing money, but management subsidizes trips, massages at work, etc? I love perks, don't get me wrong, but I love a paycheck more than those things. I'd rather see happy hours and lunches scaled back than have people lose their jobs.
@3zwf this is reduce cost, simple as that, WRS lost/wasted a lot of money and now this is result.
It, of course, makes no sense to approach the layoffs as they have. 12,000 people and Intel are similarly confused...
Still not understanding this push for co-location. If this were true, there would be no outsourcing of jobs to India and elsewhere.
Has anyone actually read these reports from Google about collocation and productivity improvements?
RTI looks a lot like the old professional services groups at WRS. Two former WRS employees are VPs there now - Hamilton (professional services) and Barnett (marketing). They seemed like decent guys at WRS. Might be worth your time to call them or shoot them an email.
RTI looks interesting. Does anyone know what their culture is like?
RTI is doing well in the Industrial IoT and hiring... www.rti.com
The speculation is that all the remaining home based workers will go by end of Q3, but I think that may be more speculation than confirmed fact. All WR offices of <500 people are either being closed down, or they need to get a waiver to stay open. There are some smaller offices that got a waiver because they're strategically placed, but no one is sure if that's permanent or not.
Bottom line, most everyone is in a great deal of shock, and a lot of uncertainty and speculation about the future.
This doesn't add up. These people have been in a home office for years and highly productive. Suddenly, they are laid off??
It's more of a geographic squeeze. Some smaller offices were shut down completely. Some were consolidated. I still have some friends there, most of them are in home based offices and most are still there. There are a lot of people in home-based offices who were let go, and I believe they've been told that they will all be closed by the end of Q3. Those friends of mine that are still around are all planning to get out, which I think is a smart move.
"Biggest criteria to be RiF'd = working from a home office."
That was a factor, but not everyone in a home office was let go. Although, I understand that by the end of Q3, the home offices will all be done away with.
How deep were the cuts? Which dept affected?
Does anybody know more details such as projects cancelled etc? Maybe we will be told today but I'm not holding my breath for that sort of transparency.
Is this the complete end? Thought remnants and fragments of WRS would live on in Intel
Confirmed. Most sites in Europe are affected, some very severely (complete closure). Good luck, all,
International offices got hit, too? Wow - didn't see that coming.
@tvu you know Wind has international offices also :-)

Actually, it is happening. Sales, order management, and a few other places. It is widespread.
Really? At 2:00 in the morning when you posted this?
