Hooley and Golf

Jay's love of golf is well known. Has his handicap been holding up this season?

Maybe Hooley spends time on the golf course trying to get new clients for SSB (lol)

Trying to get the super rich Royals of the Middle East give their money to SSB to take care of

The mention of the place crushing your self confidence is spot on. Hasn't quite come back, but it's on the way and walking out on my own terms was exceptional.

To the person who worked 3 months straight, been there done that to, being a fellow IT person.

The hardest thing is when you have overpaid dumb bosses who make promises to Clients without

checking with the It support group.

Telling a Client they can have something in 3 months when the IT support staff knows its going

to take at least 6 to 9 months of development then testing to make the product work.

Well least you got a free sandwich my group just got free coffee from the break room (lol)

Finally someone speaks the truth about State Street. Well said---whoever you are. To me it's identical to abused spouses who stay with their abusers. They are totally shell shocked and have had all self confidence beat out of them. They are literally afraid to make a move despite the abuse. Sound familiar State Street workers?

What always surprises me is why the executives (SVP's and EVP's) stay. Sure they receive high compensation but a lot of it is in deferred stock. Stock that vests to them over 4 years. State Street's stock has been a disaster. It has never recovered from the high it hit in Jan/2008 and is down big-time in the last year and year to date. So these executives are just like deer in headlights-too stunned to act despite watching the value of their stock fall day after day. Watching their wealth evaporate. How pathetic!

Take control and get out while you can. Salvage your dignity. Recapture your own.

Look, we all know the place is garbage, that much has been established. What I don't understand are the droves of folks that stay there year after year with their dwindling benefits and increasing workloads, just getting sh-- all over workday after workday, and yet...they stay. Stand up walk the f--- out and shut the door. Leave your abuser!

I can remember working three months straight until past 12 o'clock AM - doing a client conversion. THREE MONTHS STRAIGHT! This was in ADDITION to our regular work, which we would finish up around 6:30 or so, and then it was like another workday just began. I could not do laundy or grocery shopping except on the weekends. This was not even my team's client. When I mentioned how this was affecting not only me but my entire team my boss' response was "It's in your best interest to stay and work through the conversion", almost threatening-like, as if it would cost me something down the line if I did not work these additional 6 hours each day. Maybe I would get fired, laid off, not reccommended for a promotion...

What did I get for that 3 months of hard work and sacrifice? Well most days we got a sandwich for supper paid by the company ($6.00 sandwich for 6 hours of work), and when the conversion was finally completed we were given a sh--ty lunch in a conference room and a half-sincere "thank you".

After many years of service I left this company on my own terms, I didn't care to stick around for a possible severence package, and if I did wait I'd still be there to this day, in State Street prison. Life is short, each day working there encompasses the essence of true misery. I say to hell with this company, and to the executives - what goes around comes around and you'll eventually get yours, karma is a bitch.

To the person who worker harder, I can tell you working hard 7 by 24 being on call doing the

job of 2 to 3 people, is not going to get you a bigger raise or bonus.

There was a time when saying you worked at SST got you looks of jealousy.

People saying " Are there are job openings , can you help me get into SST

Now you say you work at SST you get " Oh sorry to hear that

Before reading this post I didn't know anything about Hooley and his love of golf. I "Googled" the subject and was amazed at what I found. Seems he spends a lot of time at fancy golf courses and golf related "charity" events.

I worry about my losing my job at State Street everyday. I ha ve never worked harder because of all the cutbacks in my department. And Hooley--well seems he is golfing alot. Nice life.

I will let other comment further!

guessing golfing is the only thing he is good at. I quit last December. looking back, I had wasted my time at SSB. I had been working in GM, GT and IT. Get out whenever you can.
