Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

Zenith's accreditor (ACICS) likely closing down

From an email sent by ACICS to member schools:

"June 24, 2016

Dear Member Institutions and Colleagues:

The National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) voted yesterday, Thursday, June 23, 2016 to send to the Senior Department Official (SDO) of the U.S. Department of Education a recommendation to deny recognition to ACICS. The SDO has 90 days to make a decision, based in part on the recommendations from the Committee and the Department staff, which also recommended a denial of recognition. ACICS will continue to exhaust its opportunities to inform the SDO before the record is closed. As more information becomes available, it will be shared with all ACICS colleges and schools.

It should be noted that students, graduates, employers and other community members provided articulate and supportive testimony to the Committee regarding the value and quality of education received at ACICS colleges and schools. That support fortified the efforts to secure a favorable recommendation from NACIQI, and are much appreciated.

Regards,

Anthony S. Bieda

Executive in Charge"

Actually Hawn announced about a year ago Zenith was working on switching all the schools over to ACCSC. You know the DOE slipped the information about ACICS going to be shut down to King Dave last year so Zenith could have a year to work on the switch over. Zenith must be real close to getting that done if they pulled the plug on ACICS yesterday. I'll bet all the other for-profits weren't given any notice.

Rumor on the street is that Zenith has started the application process to become Regionally Accredited....is this true? I herd this from a staff members from their online division.

This is why Zenith started switching over to ACCSC some time ago. ECMC/Zenith being in bed with the DOE has many benefits and they were given the heads up a long time ago that this was coming! I heard it first hand from a VP about 6 months ago! I would assume that the DOE did not give other ACICS schools the same consideration. This just shows how much ECMC buying the schools (based on the DOE's asking of them to do so) is the DOE's long game of not having to pay back any student loans from what could of been massive school closures. Zenith will continue to "teach out" schools. It is unfortunate but true.
