Students support ITT?

These letters were not spontaneous.. My chair went to every class and asked students to write letters of support over a month ago.

ITT is a major reason why ACICS is getting destroyed, any other accreditor would have to be a complete den of fools to accredit ITT for any price.

What percentage of actual instructors (not chairs) must be full time ? Seems like 50%

"no more than 6 Educational Representatives per Campus"

--why so many? There should only be 1 or 2 reps & no outbound calls should be allowed. The incessant calling must stop--only students who call in & are interested should be allowed to enroll.

By "educational representatives" do you mean "recruiters"

Students must attend during the first week of class...if not, too bad, must start next term (right now they can enroll week 3 of 11 week class!!!!)

"Probably ITT will find another creditor agency"---think so????

Registrar should be separate--since it is a high student demand position (everyone goes to see the registrar all the time). Director needs to focus on campus improvement.

The end result is near. Probably ITT will find another creditor agency. All Campus will go to small market environment. Programs of studies should be Electronics and IT only with decent labs and equipment up-to-date.

Absurdity of schedule of class. Class should start at 6pm and end at 9pm period, nobody stays after that time. College Director and Registrar position should be only 1; Director of Financial Aid remains with 1 assistant; Recruitment Director should be 1 per State with Managers of Recruitment at each Campus, no more than 6 Educational Representatives per Campus. 1 Academic Dean, with 2 Program Chairs, and no Associate Dean; Online Learning to a minimum; 1 Academic Administrative Assistant. All Campus to open at 8am in the morning Monday to Friday and closing at 9pm. Campus close on Saturdays. Career Services Director 1 per State with 2 Career Services specialists at each Campus.

"So at least in this one particular case, ITT-Tech does not seem to really care that the campus catalog contains false information for prospective students."

Keep a copy of it, in case DOEd needs a copy---ITT would likely remove it or change it & say you were imagining things.

ACICS is trying to prove itself. DOE executive has 90 days to make final decision and then ACICS has 30 days to appeal. In the meantime, the meeting with ITT will occur. If ever there was a time when ACICS might take heed of letters from people burned by ITT, I would think it would be now.

Obviously nobody believes that ACICS was really trying very hard to spot or deal with corruption and lies. What good would it do for me to write to them, knowing that they ignored the problem for years that was right there in front of them?

To quote the bible verse, by their fruits ye shall know them - in ITT's case that fruit is millions of lives destroyed by predatory debt and very little actual benefit. Every employer that I have talked to does not have a good opinion of ITT and even attending myself I would screen out the people who went there if I was hiring for a job. I worked my assoff but in the end I got 4 times as much debt as if I had been able to attend a state school, and zero of the dozens of certifications that are required to even be considered for the jobs out there. To actually pay back their mountain of predatory loans, I would have had to been hired on somewhere at $120,000 a year right out of the gate, and even then a solid 40% of my after tax income would have gone down the toilet for a decade just to escape the debt.

Interesting letter indeed! Show-cause letter sent to Kevin Modany on April 20, by ACICS, says in part that he needs to demonstrate by June 15 (10 days ago) that ITT-Tech deserves to keep its accreditation.

I have evidence that shows ITT-Tech has not responded to a complaint I made in early May, to my campus director and district manager, as well as another corporate manager, that the March 31 catalog for my campus lists several full time academic affairs employees who are no longer there. The evidence of ITT-Tech's neglect is simple -- the catalog on the campus website today is still the March 31 catalog with same incorrect information!

Even worse for ITT-Tech, I filed a formal complaint with ACICS about 6 weeks ago about this same catalog issue, among other things. Around 10 days ago ACICS finally got back to me, saying "As is our process, this investigation must be initiated at the campus level, therefore, the Council has forwarded a copy of your complaint to the director ... " so I know ITT-Tech is now aware of my complaint. (I conveniently quit ITT-Tech at end of last quarter, so am not up to date on campus gossip.) Yet ITT-Tech has not yet bothered to edit out the lies in the online catalog, which anyone can access by clicking a link on the campus website "DOWNLOAD OUR CAMPUS CATALOG."

So at least in this one particular case, ITT-Tech does not seem to really care that the campus catalog contains false information for prospective students.

According to the letter, Modany is supposed to present: "Evidence that ITT has investigated and remedied, across the system, any operational or procedural deficiencies regarding compliance with state consumer protection statutes of its marketing, advertising, recruitment and admissions, academic advising and career services activities. "

People following this board for the past few weeks know many campus catalogs contain lies. Just read the many entries about "ghost" employees.

"I changed my mind about writing ACICS, why the hell would it matter to write to a corrupt institution that is closing down. "

---they'd probably get a kick out of reading your letters, why not brighten their day & let them set down their rubber stamps for a moment?

I changed my mind about writing ACICS, why the hell would it matter to write to a corrupt institution that is closing down. They should have known years ago what a scam these schools are and obviously chose to not pay any attention. I thought the letters were going to the board or DoED instead.

Interesting letter. I didn't see anything about ACICS needing letters of support from students. ACICs wanted hard data. Maybe ITT can't give the data, so is hoping to tug on heart strings with personal stories instead. Could Modany be that dumb?

Someone should post this in the ITT group so those of us who got burned can give them a realistic picture not some school mandated claptrap...

This link contains interesting info, as well as the emails addresses of the heads of ITT & ACICS:

While some software & electronics & maybe drafting grads might get respectable pay and professional positions, CJ (criminal justice) program was a complete disaster...paying 40K and working as a security wand scanner at an amusement park doesn't cut it.

Inyr,

Write to ACICS and cc a copy to Modany. When my chair went to solicit these letters at our campus, it was intended as show cause for ACICS. Maybe other students could write, too. I have read that despite the looming shut down of ACICS, this show cause meeting is still on for August. Surely there are more students who have gotten burned than these 900 who have written letters of support?

Who did they write to? How can I write the same people and tell them how ITT ruined my life with the predatory debt and complete lack of industry required certifications?

What academic services? What support services?

Campuses have been whittled down to recruiters and financial aid coordinators in the daytime; part-time temporary adjuncts teaching classes at night.

Who needs to see the 900 letters?? This says it all:

The overwhelming support from our students confirms that they received a quality education and are taking advantage of the academic and support services our campuses have to offer," said Kevin M. Modany.

Now it IS true in many cases, and probably mostly for the best students. What about the majority who are not top students, or the crowds who sit one or 2 quarters & drop out? Example, see 1000 enroll each year & 150 graduate each year.
