It corporate America.. I'm not sure why anybody is surprised? I've worked in Corporate America my whole life and I always keep my resume updated and savings in case of a possible layoff. They ONLY care about their employees so long as it's the bet/most profitable option. That's not a conspiracy theory rant.. it's real life folks. The have a obligation to their shareholders. If "they" can find a cheaper option (while still being profitable) to trim your job, they'll do it. There's absolutely no loyalty to employees at any given level.. sure some might be more secure than others, but I promise you at one point or another YOUR position will be looked at next. Companies pay employees the LEAST POSSIBLE while still getting them to work there. People need to see the writing on the wall and RISE UP.

Oh, I can not agree more with this comment! If I read this article before I apply, I will not apply for Sysco. It is too late. I feel how they treat employees like cattle. We are just a thing. They dump us anytime they want. Funny, some associates are still proud to work there, just like me before. I was too stupid to refuse another job offer to this bad careless company just because I thought I would have more job security in a big company.
Layoffs today for long term employees here in Vancouver BC. 3 hardworking, loyal employees gone just like that. Moral is low and respect for Management zero. No respect shown for long term hardworking employees from this ungrateful CEO. Bill Delaney put Sysco in this financial mess toss that piece of sh-- out!
