Someone has made me aware that upper management thinks this site is just a bunch of disgruntled ex associates who have an axe to grind because of their demise. They (upper management) DO NOT feel this is representative of what current feelings are within the company. The feeling is from operations to Human Resources that these comments are not real nor do the criticisms of certain individuals hold true. Please comment further to let them know this is CURRENT associates who know what is going on and are tired of being door mats for certain executives to walk on them constantly. Just an FYI.

Upper management should not dismiss the comments make here. This site and it's comments should be the place they go to find out what they can and should have done better. Staples would not be in the mess it is today if they used this site as a tool.
Current gm. Sorry corporate this IS what your employees think
It's not enough to rid Ron from Staples.
It's time to cull Human Resource decision makers. Start at the top concluding with field area managers. They are a disgrace to the HR profession.
It's disgusting that Ron is walking about with a big payout for failing. He should walk away with nothing like any associate that gets fired.
I started posting to this site 5 years ago. I still worked there then, but clearly saw what they were up to. I've been gone for quite a while, hence "watching From Afar" and on my own terms. However all my contacts inside the company continue to feed me all the stuff I post and comment on, which is why it's so up to date and accurate. THEY ALL hate Staples and ALL are looking for a way out. HR exists only to protect the company from lawsuits, so they are irrelevant. Upper management is churning so fast they either are posting angry things here or don't have the time. I usually know stuff before it hits the HUB!
"Staples is mediocrity"
Whoever wrote this hit the nail on the head and maybe still giving Staples too much credit. "Staples Is Mediocrity" should replace "Make More Happen". Maybe someone up top can change it now that we know those scumbags are reading these posts.
Speaking up about the true horror that Staples has become does not benefit anyone currently with the company. No one wants to hear that and in fact it will most likely end your career. Trust me, I'm still here. That's the reason some may think it's all great here, no one can speak up. No one cares. Take it from a disgruntled current employee.
Staples is a mediocre company. Most of my coworkers did as little as possible (including rock the boat) but enough to keep their jobs. Staples is mediocrity.
I was with staples for 15yrs. I drank the cool aide for all that time. I really enjoyed working for the company until around 2009. What happened then? Aah yes the CE purchase, that is when the company started going downhill. I have been gone for almost a year, having left on my own terms. I saw too many layoffs in the SDOs and FCs for no reason. I just was getting sick of the company and all its reindeer games.
Since having left I still follow and am glad that the company couldn't buy Office Depot/max and that Ron is out. There are still too many tumor growing and expanding in the company.
Keep up the faith, keep up the pressure and hopefully soon the company might be gone or at least the people who have made the company not a fun place to work anymore.
Your reliable source lies
I'm a disgruntled ex associate so, to that extent, they are correct. I was not happy the last couple of years I was there. I bled Staples red for years. I believed in that company and drank the kool-aid for 14 years. Except for two quarters, I met or exceeded my budget goals EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Then things changed. The company was in trouble and they started to manage by fear. There are two ways to get people to work for you: they will work in fear of losing their jobs or they will work if the respect and believe in you. Staples has chosen to manage by fear. I don't care if they believe it or choose to look the other way.
This company's upper management has no interest or ability to actually be leaders. That has been proven time and time again. This management uses their position for personal benefit and intimidation. They can care less about the success of the company. Companies need leaders to succeed and this is where Staples lacks most.
This speaks to every thing that's wrong with this company. People walking around with blinders on!
Denying that the points brought up on this site are valid is exactly why so many flock to sites like this. Upper management refuses to listen or offer any support. What happens to a company who's workforce absolutely hates their upper management? Look at Staples... There's your answer. A company so divided and with no vision disappears in large chunks. Look at Staples year by year, it just gets smaller and smaller. Soon it'll all be gone. So much of this could've been avoided if only Staples had brave "upper management" with talent and vision. So sad, so stupid.

They tell them self these lies and spread these lies to make themselves look better, but we all know the truth. And if they really care they would send people, non bias people out into stores and see the and hear the truth. The real stores, the ones that need help and are struggling everyday. Every company has disgruntled employees but this company has a lot more than the norm. And on another point people are, afraid of speaking up due to fear of being picked on or singled out, so the true value of corporates statement is null and void, they just have no idea nor do they care, and that's the truth and this cones from a person who has been with the co. Over 10 years. We are only speaking the truth when or if we speak up in a matter to make this co a better work environment not to get anyone in trouble. But they don't listen and turn a blind eye to the REAL problem. And that is the truth!!!
Upper management can think what they want, we represent current and former employee's. Everything I've seen on here is the truth. If you fine managers think otherwise, get HR off their collective lazy butts, get them in the field without any notification, and let them be the judge. Better idea yet, you're famous for blowing money on stupid initiatives or cutting benefits (like stock options, 401k match 1x a year), spend some bucks on an independent HR consultant and have them personally interview the field.
Is upper management accusing Ron of contributing to the anger on this site? Interesting.
Why would a company in such good standing have so many disgruntled ex-associates?
Of course they'd believe that. They also believe that they are doing a great job and that the company is doing great.
Wether the posts here are from current or past employees is irrelevant; as a current employee I haven't read anything on here (parody included) that is far from true.
Keep up the great job upper management, many of you have felt the pain of your failure and the rest will soon as well. Morons!
Current Level 38 Framingham eComm (2 East) here!
This just further shows their stupidity.
Current manager and I will say Vinnie needs to go!
