If ETE wins and Williams appeals the verdict and Williams wins the appeal - is the severance payout still in play? Or is Williams likely able to cancel any payout?

There has to be a change of control from Williams to another company before 12/31 for enhanced severance to pay. If the courts forced ETE to close the deal with Williams, that's a change of control. If another company buys Williams and closes before 12/31, that also qualifies.
