Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

It's always the same

Downtown-based Education Management Corp. has laid off 3 percent of its workforce in the Art Institutes system, including 41 people at its Pittsburgh offices, spokesman Bob Greenlee confirmed this afternoon.

“As part of our efforts to offer students a great learning experience while keeping education affordable, we must maintain close alignment between our resources and market demand,” Mr. Greenlee said in an emailed statement. “As such, Education Management Corporation had to make the difficult decision to eliminate approximately 3 percent of employees at EDMC. These reductions are mostly in staff and support functions.”

Some of the Pittsburgh-based staff affected by the cuts worked at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, while others worked at the corporate offices, Mr. Greenlee said.

Layoffs also occurred on other Art Institute campuses, Mr. Greenlee said, but he could not provide a number because the restructuring is creating some positions and eliminating others. Current employees might have the opportunity to take the new positions, he said.

The news marks the latest round of cuts at the for-profit education company, which has been struggling. The cuts come after EDMC issued layoff notices in May to nearly 200 people at its Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s online division.

Please, someone make my day and confirm for me that JRinsky is g-o-n-e?? I have never met anyone as dishonest and unethical as he is. I can't figure out why EDMC ever hired him. But, then again, all bets are off now. The world is completely aware that EDMC is also unethical and dishonest.
