Oh, c'mon. If you were there, you'd see that Hager had a genuine concern on his face that the employees won't have sits. Then he probably realized what he was saying and tried to make it into a joke.
People were laid off either because their jobs were eliminated due to lack of operations or because they were anchors bringing the company down.
Hillary is bat sh-- crazy just like Trump. With Trump we'll end up in a nationalistic country, but will be able to drill and have our jobs. Hillary will keep our country open to global market and impose new regulations, so bye bye jobs. There is a map on politfact which shows what will happen to the oil industry if Hillary imposes her new regulations - nearly every well will be shut down - oil kaput.
Next step Hager needs to do is instead of celebrating STEM female students on Strata, to review his current female STEM employees and bring their salaries up to the market value according to their specifications as he does with his male employees. While there are STEM females at Devon that are very successful, there are also few of them that are underpaid.

It is extremely unprofessional for a CEO to make a joke about empty seats in an auditorium when it was caused by a layoff. DId he REALLY put it that way, or is that what you think you heard?
Just remember you don't have to respect the person or the way they act, but you Better respect the position.
I actually think Hager is doing a good job. He simply had the misfortune of taking over during a time of plummeting commodity prices, which were not forecasted by anyone. He did what the board of directors felt had to be done at the time. I would go back to Devon if called upon.

The comment about alot more empty sits was pretty lamp and tacky. We lost good people and our trust has been lost. They will never admit it but the got rid of you if you where the most expensive and that included your medical cost. So if you had a baby, accident, or cancer; you where SOL unless you were connect to the boss. They threw in a few newbies to make that stats look good. I hope Devon gets bought and the company moves out of Oklahoma. It is nothing but a black eye for the state. Really Trump for President, what are they thinking!!!. I hope I live to see the day the bidg is abandon or made into condos.
I did not realize John had a day job? Why does he hang around Devon stinking up the place if he can work a regular job?
He also said that Trump is pro fracturing and Hillary is not. Clinton is not against fracturing - she just wants more regulations to avoid water poisoning and earth quakes. This potentially wil halt the business since it takes time to impose and follow all these regulations. And oil is already weak. But the alternative is having Trump as a president. And if Devon's core value is Integrity as advertised, they have nothing to lose - they do not poison water or cause earth quakes hence they can go with Hillary's requirements. Pipeline business in US went through a similar change few years ago - it turned out to be ok. Even though it was a major headache.
