If you think Q1 looked bad wait til Q2 numbers come out. Folks it is way bad. Rig count dropping, non existent margins on few rigs we have. We are good as gone, no digging out. It is getting worse daily. Mission Control we have a problem.

You would think that at some point, layoffs would begin at the top. However, since common sense at NP is lacking, I highly doubt we will see that. Kinda like the old song "pissin in the wind". More British arrogance in the air.

Truer words have never been spoken. Howes, Smith and Vollands have never sold a sack of mud. I highly doubt they have knowledge of how to program a well. All they know is Evolution blah, blah, blah. You reap what you sow. Howes is finally seeing just how mis-informed he is. However, Howes had his chance to step up and build 1 building to house the entire Newpark organization which would have saved millions. But nooooooo, he wanted his glass palace in the Woodlands-separate from the working class peions. Now you have a $40 mil building in Katy that isn't half occupied while corp op-ex is outta control. Still spending huge $$$ for deep water Gulf which is 5 years from any kind of turnaround if ever. NP is going down like a Turd in a toilet. Nothing more than a prolonged going out of business sale. The board has to be looking for any potential buyer while NR stockholders continue to get shafted. Come to think of it, Paul Howes already run 1 company into the ground.

Fortunately, as a result of this market, there is some outstanding leadership talent available. I've seen first hand the type of individuals who could turn Newpark around. The distinction between your current leadership and the folks I mention is relationship. Some fine young folks want to make a difference and tell us how they can while sitting in front of my drilling engineers or my Company men. We haven't had any Scottish or British callers.

The best way to screw up a mud company is to hire someone to run a mud company that knows absolutely nothing about the mud business. Happened many times since the 70's boom.
Well as I sit here looking over the years with NP there should have been some changes years ago but that's how it always been with those mom and CO. It is really sad to see what has happened and is currently happening at NDF. Phil has singled out nearly all the contributors who made NDF successful and cut them loose. He clearly has a problem with anyone he views as a threat so he gets rid of them. The few that Phil has hired, have done poorly. He has continued to make wrong decision compounded by more wrong decisions. At some point Howes has to man up and admit his mistake in hiring Phil. Until then, we - the stockholders continue to suffer. Simply a clusterf**k.
