Thread regarding SanDisk Corp. layoffs

First of all welcome to WD family!

WD is a famous company to do things efficiently including cost down everything unnecessary.

So in the future don't be surprise that your Legacy SaNDisk benefit will reduce along with layoff occurs every year.

Avg salary for SanDisk engineers are about 10~15% higher than legacy WD so your annual salary adjustment might be frozen for years in the future to allow time for salary of legacy WD engineers catching up .

Legacy HGST has already sensed such cost-down policy very well from integration with WD months ago.

But don't worry guys. SanDisk products will help getting the margin up for the WD overall balance sheet and that will help the entire WD team to share a higher benefit package in the next few quarters !!!

I have been with WD for about a year and I can attest to this. Every benefit you look at, such as health care, 401K matching, ESPP, RSU (non-existent), bonus, raise, etc... is as cheap as it can get.

The WD compensation structure is more tuned to a mechanical/manufacturing operation than a technology company. Sorry, you will be disappointed...
