Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It is very dissapointing to see the layoffs at Intel made into a race issue.

It is very dissapointing to see the layoffs at Intel made into a race issue by some of the stupid people expressing their anti-Indian sentiments. Look if you got laid off it was not because you were white, black or any other color. It was because either you sucked at your job or you were in the wrong project.

OP - how dense are you ?

the h1bs are foreigners - taking jobs from Americans. If they were not here-

there would not be 12k layoffs. Intel would be a much better place to work.

Ask ANYONE who was there before they brought in the diversity crap/people.

Thank goodness for freedom of speech. The repliers have just as much rights to display their opinions as the OP to suggest it is racism. We like to hear all sides of the issue, not those that are strictly political.

The people I know who got ISp or vsp neither "sucked at their job" nor were they "on the wrong project".

This layoff mess has a parallel.

Do you know about the evolution of the Military Industrial Complex?

Mercenaries (of all ethnicities) are hired to killed people in foreign lands.

Welcome to the evolution of the Multinational Corporate Industrial Complex.

H1B employees (of all ethnicities) are hired to kill jobs in foreign lands (i.e. USA),

especially starting with the lands that created this mutation.

One nice thing about H1B is if you know someones approximate hire date you can look up their salary because its public information. I know US workers at other companies that have been able to use this to know new hires salary and get a better idea of what salary range employers are actually offering vs what may be misleading info on sites like glassdoor.

hope they abolish NAFTA too. My team is now full of mexican workers now and they don't even need to go through standard visa process. All they need is a degree in CS, no criminal record and a job letter from an american employer.

well I am an ethnic indian and came to this country with my parents long time ago. I have experienced all the complainsts that are being attributed to indians but I would say it is not limited to indians. All average and below average workers from developing countries such as Mexico, China and Russia behave the same way. This is my experience. So although I am against offering H1B visa for non-specialty IT occupations, you should also target people from other countries that I have mentioned. Also what I have experienced is that the foreigners that are brought through consulting firms such as Tata and Infosys are well behaved and professional compared to the ones hired directly by the american employers.

You're screwed up in your mind if you think the focal process/promotions/evaluations are perfect. Having a bad manager which is very common can lay you off. You are as good as what you're working on and your manager can keep you cutting onions or move you to cooking. Just how many managers knew that SSL4 gets you fired as a sign of bad performance? They were just giving more cash than stock.

How about the regular story of limited budget? Sorry no budget for this year, maybe next one. Are you telling me you were promoted because you received exceeding expectation? Or given EE because it's time to get promoted? How about a team of 12 employees all grade 5? Seriously you will promote them all in 3 years? Now comes executives and say "you received VSP fora reason. Take it!" CRAP!!!

Implement a fair system that really works!

Work doesn't have to be so dramatic!

Anyone knows the legal aspects of this? How can Intel fire US citizens and hire H1Bs and sponsor their change of status to legal residents/green cards? Doesn't this process require proving there's no qualified citizens in the country? The so called certification of labor?

When citizens will put a burden on the government filing for unemployment benefits while H1Bs have no benefits?

No response from Washington DC on this?

LOL, its all one guy doing this. His indian manager kicked his assand fired him and he thinks Trump will save his assand put him back to work and get rid of all Indian H1B's. Thats what we are dealing with.

  • BK pushes diversity at Intel

  • Diversity includes "hiring and promoting under-represented minorities"

  • Focal 2015 was used to promote URM's, pushing non-URM's down the scales simply due to race and gender

  • Results from Focal 2015 were used to trigger layoffs

I really don't know if OP is trolling or just stupid. I'll believe both.

URM includes blacks, African American women, Hispanic, native Americans. But not Indians.

I am not white and I don't want to be white, but I believe H1B are taking away most of well paying jobs in U.S. because of corporate ' greed.

Its not just hi-techs but doctors, dentists even nurses and everywhere you go, you'll see a lot of foreign workers from China, Canada, Israel even Western Europe.... but fairly speaking, Indian are the most H1B that are here.

Sigh... I understand the pains that American are suffering. and I hope they'll change the law to help those American who have lost their jobs soon.

Blame BK and the Board of Directors for letting out there plans on outsourcing.

Roles reversed and more Americans hired in your country than your own, you'd be a bit pissed off also

BK made it a race issue with 2020 racial quotas. And hiring a non-URM is often impossible. This is racial bias plain and simple. If you want to remove race as a topic then go back to judging people solely on their qualifications.

While I tend to somewhat agree with OP -- it's also painfully obvious the non white-mail bias at play in intel.

There is constant pressure to not hire white males for positions -- and there's a BUNCH of questions when someone who isn't a white male is turned down for a position. (when there is zero questions if we decide a whitey isn't fit for the job)

BK has specifically mentioned diversity as one of the factors in the layoffs. How is that NOT a race issue? Not to mention the 14,000 H1Bs requested.
