Several times now, I have sent email to co-workers about projects we have been working on together. When I don't get a response, I try again, and again. The email doesn't bounce back because the person is still listed in the directory. So I think they are still there and just too busy to respond. But after many tries with no response, I start asking around. So far, I learned that 3 of them were cut and are not at the company any more, and those are just the ones I know about. Aside from the grieving that comes with losing co-workers and not even being able to say goodbye, this approach of keeping their emails active is very inefficient, wasting time when we are all so short of resources already. My job used to be done by 4 people. Now I do it alone. I can't even imagine how much knowledge and history has walked out the door. I'm a pretty positive person, but it is hard to be motivated and positive in this environment.

Dude, why do you care? Trust that your managers and executives already know of that and they don't care! Don't kill yourself to fix it. They should!
Look them up in people.intel.com
Laid off people have their email listed as their supervisor
Laid off nearly 4 weeks ago and work phone is still active. I call my number, the voice mail picks up and plays my greeting, but I cannot check my voice mail. I have come to know people have left voice mails for me and became upset why I did not return their calls.
This is the tip of the iceberg. There's more pain from ARM disruption coming and more layoffs. Intel is never again going to be as good as it is right now. I don't get VSP but I'm job hunting like crazy right now. Time to get off this doomed ship.
Their Unix shell will be /bin/false, checked via finger. Or you can parse through the password file in /etc
It is because there effective last day is something like May 24. Most are using their vacation or they lose it.
How's that dignity and respect working out for ya?
Just keep emailing they will eventually ping you back who knows if they've taken a sabbatical or medical leave of absence
One technique, check their lync status. If it shows offline for 19 days ( or somewhere around that) they were most likely impacted. I agree, it's been challenging to navigate.
You need to realize by now if someone has been offline for 3 weeks they're probably not coming back. Go right to their manager and see if they have figured out how to plug the hole that is your project.
