Sales SEs have long been treated like second class citizens and with recent management changes, the problem has only gotten worse. Just a couple of days ago, management decided that the qualification level for SEs to attend the sales incentive trip known as President's Club would be 130% of quota. For sales reps, the qualification level is 110%. Since SEs and sales reps work in pairs (for the most part, there are some exceptions), management stupidly sent the message that teamwork doesn't matter and SEs are less valuable than sales reps.

Inside reps appreciated the SE,s. Great group.
I have to agree with the previous Anonymous poster to this thread. There are many people at Symantec who have worked to make this a career and something to be proud of, and have been part of the teams required to do so for many years. Many working through and around the shortcomings of the quarterly numbers, and charging ahead with ideas and solutions instead of being concerned about being let go. Now many of these people are facing layoffs (probably considered the 'little people' in your "Sales" world) and your big concern is that you have been tasked with performing above and beyond at your job in order to attend a trip. And let's face it, a President's Club trip is just an antiquated and expensive waste of money. There are other, probably less expensive ways, to incentivize sales, but heaven forbid that the sales organization find ways to help the company save money!!
Really you are complaining about this with people losing their jobs ! I think you are part of the problem at Symantec , you did not get let into the presidents club boo ho
