It's hard to know whether they're working but the throngs of ISG (Influencer Sales Group) folks all seem to still be employed for our vertical.

Intel does not "sell" unless they are part of an OEM team. being called a sales person at Intel is one of the biggest jokes in hi tech. they are "trusted advisors" and act only as influencers. If people are not securing a PO from a customer they can be replaced or moved to channel organization. I known many seasoned Intel sales reps who simply caught rain (revenue secured by OEMs, ISVs) and counted it as revenue they captured. This model is one of the significant problems facing Intel and should be re-named from SMG, to BDMG (business development and marketing group)

Major cuts. Up to 40% impact of iSP, ERP, and VSP in some groups. There was a time when sales was viewed as untouchable. they were the face of Intel and maintained the relationships with customers to survive during lean product cycles. Not anymore. Really good, smart reps with 10+ years of customer relationships tossed like trash. Good luck managing customers thru this.
