I ain't no white male but 50+, 20+ years, in a very critical role, first level 4 in my career.
Let's just say I have had a direct hand in some of Intel's most proud achievements. I got 20' to pack up my cube..

53, 2 years from retirement, most senior person on the team. Manager African American. The only white male on the team and the only person who got ISP. No one else got ISP/VSP. The only other white person on the team is a female recent hire. Every one else (male and female) non-white.
White male, 52, transferred to new group and manager two years ago. SL4 in the new group for the first time in 16 years. ISP.
Technicians at Job Grade 57 are getting hit hard. Only so many EE and OO alloted per year. Especially in NM it was one of the few places to make a decent paycheck here for many years. That is why there are so many 20+year technicians. Not everyone wants to be an engineer. Companies used to value strong stable performers, however with automation and the ability to leverage persons with multiple skillsets they do not need a large pool of them anymore. That is any company. I am not offended by it, it is just the nature of business over time. Our Children will think working like a freelancer even being employed by a firm is normal. I do have heartburn with the fact that so many close to ERP 6 months or less.. NO SERMA. That's messed up. They really should bridge that close.
63+. 9 years at Intel. No ERP, VSP or ISP. Lucky me :)
Female, 58 2 1/2 years from retirement, Satisfactory for 11 years, VSP...most likely because Grade 94 for more than 4 years, I would think.

Male, Asian, 55 yrs + 15 yrs service, offered ERP, EE, O, S over the last 5 years
White, male, 53, less than 2 yrs to retirement eligibility, and ISP.
Male, 52, 6 mos to rule 75, VSP (might take it). No performance issues ever. Successful + Stock every year. Grade 57 SNE.

Coming to Intel was a mistake and this kind of stupidity just makes me that much happier to be out of there.

I know there are couple of groups at Intel who are working for an artificial assthat can be used for people who dont feel like wiping it when they need to - to automatically do it for them. And this is IOT compatible meaning if you see someone coming out of stall with this option turned off you can remotely press the button to make sure they are clean.
They are also developing solutions that take into account the anatomical differences of female and male parts to correctly do the job.

@cql - But that list does not show how close people are to being eligible for retirement benefits.....a very important fact I think. It's appalling to me that Intel is getting rid of folks so close to being eligible for retirement. You'd think that they would make an exception for this if you were 1 to 2 years away from being eligible for retirement!
this data has already been distributed inside Intel, which includes groups/departments with individual's age (no names) that were on the ISP list I've seen it. Ask a friend that is still with Intel to forward you a copy.

Gross v. FBL (2009). It wouldn't matter if everyone they laid off was 50+. The Supreme Court has ruled that cost-cutting and reorganization are legitimate business purposes and employers are allowed to cull the expensive herd, as long as age isn't the "primary" factor. Yes, older people tend to make more money - but that doesn't, ipso facto (by the effect of the act), make age the primary factor. They've made it extremely difficult to sue for age discrimination.

Did anyone happen to consider that the reason there are a larger % of older white males impacted is because there is a major larger % of that group filling the majority of positions, so yes it would appear that way. Welcome to the data that finally shows the true biases in hiring during those historical times. Thus, enters diversity needs!!!
It's in the 174 page document. It's already been sent to California labor department.
They are discriminating directly against older persons.
The algorithm is "just conveniently" doing that.
One could argue they are discriminating against satisfactory persons and there is no policy.
But they can do what they want.
Anybody who is satisfactory but within 1stdev will. probably be next.
Yes I know I would love to have a case too. A lawyer said nothing can be done. Maybe he/she wasn't enough of a shark.
But let's take the extreme case. Somebody at level 5 for 10 years. Yeah probably would want them gone.
