Amazon is not a great company to work for but Staples is just pathetic.
I left staples to go to amazon. After 1.5 years i took job working for the government. Even though I make more now, I can not bring myself to shop at Amazon any more..Do a google search on working conditions...it's all true. Sad but true, Amazon is not much better than Staples.
"Amazon said it pays leaders minimal salaries -- the highest is $175,000, for Senior Vice President Diego Piacentini -- as part of its philosophy of tying total compensation to long-term shareholder value. The shares of the Seattle-based company jumped 59 percent last year."

Bezos only receives $82,000 (+ a $1.6 million security stipend)
The major issue at Staples right now is that it is extremely top heavy. To many over paid and redundant execs. Yet they go after store GMs making over $60k, and their performance does not matter. Sales and margin, Csat etc can all be great, but if they feel you make to much they will make up reasons to term you or just harass the hell out of you until you quit.
The only way this company is going to get fixed is a top down cleansing of execs, including SVPs and RVPs.
I agree. That's because they don't waste valuable resource trying to buy bankrupt competitors, they just create a superior business model and put them out of business
