I had heard a rumor that EMC is doing stack ranking each and every quarter this year. Maybe trying to get the ducks in an orderly row for mowing?

Hah - The real question is who gets local account control - There is a huge battle about to take place on whether the Dell Sales Rep or the EMC Sales Rep will keep their accounts. I suspect, since Dell reps are paid less, they will 'magically' take over the major accounts, leaving the scraps for the EMC reps....who will then quit.... Sounds like a cost reduction plan to me.....It's a darn shame, this once great company (EMC) disappearing.....Mike Ruettgers , as CEO of EMC, used to point out all of the old Boston Tech Companies that never survived - Wang, Digital, etc..... Well, add EMC to the list....Sad, so Sad...........
They're hiring like crazy over in ETD, might be worth a look if you think you'll be redundant after the merger.
Clever... They've learned a thing or two over the years, to be sure. I've had a rising tide of queries from recruiters over the past months - and not just the robo-generated ones for an admin job in Sault Ste. Marie. So, there's opportunity out there. We'll all just have to wait and find out which ones of us "have the opportunity to pursue" them sooner than others. Mid-July should be interesting. ~8 weeks and counting?
Stack ranking every quarter is needed for "continuous realignment".
Why have 1 big layoff when you can do several smaller layoffs and stay off the WARN Act notice?
Those junk bonds are paying 10%+ interest, need to fire a lot of people to pay Wall Street.
