You apparently saw "layoff" and didn't bother to read as far as "Intel." These are the people who would have to PAY for all that delightful Bernie free-ness. Even the fired ones make too much bank.
These are, ipso facto, the go-getters. The successes. The people who take responsibility for their own incomes. The people who are good at math.
They're not waiting around for some geriatric, lifelong-government-employed hippie to save them from the harsh expectations of capitalism. They know they can work to get ahead, so they don't need "ahead" to be taken out of the game.

As the soviet saying goes: "we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us". Socialism in all forms = poverty. The more equality you want the more poverty you get.

Perhaps you don't understand that SSI and UI benefits are Socialist. Emergency Services are Socialist. (you pay taxes for them and I'm sure you expect to use them when you need to) Our roadways and interstate system are Socialist....But, you use public roads and services don't you? I'd say that it's you who has sh-- for brains, you should turn off Fox news and start visiting other countries before you claim you know all about them.

Some countries in Europe are considered socialist (Norway, Netherlands, and others?). Cuba is considered communist, an extreme form of socialism.
I would say the more socialist a country is the less personal freedoms one has.

How many people from socialist countries have you actually met? As tourists? Like lets say from Cuba or Venezuela? Exactly none I bet, as they aren't allowed to leave. Ever wonder why people bypass the workers paradise of Cuba on their way to Florida in rubber rafts and inner tubes? sh-- for brains.
Salaries are also not as high in socialist countries. It's harder to get ahead and not as much incentive to work hard and excel at what you do. I will take capitalism over socialism any day.
And there is no food on the grocery store shelves. There is no gasoline to be found anywhere. (unless you are skilled in black markets, as an intel employee you most likely are not.)
