Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel did not pass on the iPhone. Intel pulled their standard pitch to tell Apple what a phone "really" should be - a pocket sized laptop with less battery life. Intel wanted to maximize computing power and work on improving battery life over time. ARM did the opposite. Needless to say... not many intel devices in mobile products in the last 10 years

If Apple had come to Intel it would be for them to manufacturing on some joint specified silicon process. Would be interesting story as Apple technologist-designers would want A and the intel technologist would have said no B is best. So even if PSO had said yes, I suspect the arrogance that permeates the cubes of Intel would have driven the fruit company else where very quickly.

I saw a video recently where Morris talked about how he measured the success of his factory managers it was by asking his customers if they were happy. When you are foundry your customers are always right, you don't question what they want and you listen to deliver what they ask for, you don't question how stupid they are and challenge every request they have. You go ask Intel internal design team if they are happy with the technologists!

The problem is two 500 pound gorillas fighting it out.

Intel wants it their way and do does Apple.

Intel dealing with is a reflection of what the do to their vendors and some could argue to their customers.

Again just opinion.

Otellini didn't do something about the PC decline. He sat on his hands for years while things went to sh--. Think of this whole thing as cleaning up after Paul's sh--, except it's done in a sh--ty way too.
