Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Does too much time in grade really lead to ISP or VSP?

I mean, for those who got ISP'd for SSL4/5, was time-in-grade officially cited as the reason? We all pretty much assume that time in grade leads to VSP; however, we don't quite know what the real consequence of getting VSP is yet, perhaps none since it is a scare tactic. And what is wrong with someone being successful with doing a solid job year after year while only getting modest raises and stocks? Is an annual 2% raise really going to break Intel's bank?

It's even worst. Staying 60 years in the same grade will get you dead at 85% of recorded cases.

You guys still have the illusion that Focal has something to do with your performance. It is not! It is a workforce rotation/replacement system. No matter how good you are in your job, sooner or later you will be at a level where you are within the median. Then 3 years same grade, one tiny hickup with your boss or a system inheritent ssl distribution problem and bang goodbye... Fresh young cheap graduate coming in that ideally does exactly what he is told to do, has no private life and doesn't mind working overtime until he also reaches his best before date.

This is it what is meant by "only the best are working here". Nothing to do with the quality of the engineering, just an economic function. Best in terms of maximum output for the company at minimum cost. So lets say you manage 3-4 grades in your Intel carreer multiplied by 3 years. So about 9-12 years at Intel were your chances in the past. Will probably be less in the future.

Mind you rumors has it that things will be simplified soon. I think HR did a testrun where there is just a Facebook like thumbs up/thumbs down. VSP, ISP, ERP will probably be automated by an HR Bot (easing the pain for your manager) transmitting decisions from the cloud, via fog to your inbox to drive the vicous cycle of growth.

No wonder people are trying to escape this industry once they have discovered how things work.

So forget your carreer, do your job with dignity and respect for yourself and fellow co-workers and if you are kicked out, you know that it has absolutely nothing to do with your quality of work or you as a person, it's just that your knowledge is outdated or obsolete and you had no time to constantly learn new stuff in parallel with your 80h work-week.

The psycopaths will keep climbing and bring down the company in the end. Hang on it's already happening, right?

For ISP only IR or S+SSL4 or S+SSL5 in 2016 were the criteria. Time in grade had nothing to do with it.

I still want to know how you can be rated successful and walked out the door forever just because you got a slightly lower stock allocation. How is "S+SSL4" a clear message when it says you're successful but means you can be fired and blacklisted if it happens just once? How is that not changed to "BE+SSL4"? Oh well, I'm sure BK will dream up some flowery way to make us all equals instead of making some feel superior to others (dear lord, think of the S peoples' feewings!).

Hypothetically, if managers are forced to find stock level 4 within a team, they need some type of criteria for finding this bottom. Time in grade maybe one of those criteria.
