USA gave away the knowledge, the industry, the manufacturing, the software, the hardware, pretty much everything. The only way we are going to beat the foreigners are making our education system better. Our kids are going to have to work really "smart" cause there is going to tough competition coming there way. The average Chinese kid studies from 7:30 AM to 7 PM and on the weekends. Our kids only know how to click two buttons on the keyboard/mouse to play games. You ask a kid if they can multiply two numbers, and they pull out a calculator. You ask a Chinese kid if they can multiply and they pull out paper and pencil. Even our colleges aren't teaching the fundamentals. Professors are just collecting money. Even the online books cost hundreds of dollars.
Did you know in order to get a job in some foreign countries, you have to take a "corporate" exam for the job area you are applying for since it's very competitive. In some corporations, in order to keep your job, they give you an exam bi-yearly on the work you are doing. If you perform poorly on the exam, they fire you. In some countries, there is no unemployment. Once you're laid-off, you don't have any income coming in.
