Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What the heck - VSP vs. ISP Severence now seems significantly different despite Initial VP message stating they were equal except end date.

What the heck - VSP vs. ISP Severence now seems significantly different despite Initial VP message stating they were equal other than end date worked. Per other post noting email from Diane Bryant on VSP, the email there shows 15w severance for 4yrs service. ISP rate is much lower at only 1.5 w/yr so 10 yrs to get 15w pay.

Disturbing since in group meeting I was in with VP he clearly put up slide stating the severance for service time (yrs worked) was exactly the same for VSP vs. ISP. Said only difference in packages was VSP would have 2 more months on payroll to work until late June. Why is this now suddenly different?

Seems like you can't take the word of any Intel exec even in a room of hundreds with it on a slide on screen. Truly sad....

First, the severance pay per year is not simply 1.5 weeks per year. It comes from a table, and it doesn't follow a simple formula (though the common delta is 3 weeks per 2 years). This table can be found by Google.

The number of weeks is 8 weeks plus the amount based on years at Intel, and that's where your "15 weeks for 4 years" comes from . The slide we were shown the day after BK's BUM showed, showed, as the first example, 7 weeks for 4 years. That's where the 15 weeks came from: 15 = 8 weeks + 7 weeks for 4 years. The 15 weeks for 10 years number you mentioned should be in addition to the 8 weeks base.

These execs don't know what they are talking about. They can't get a damn thing right. I'm happy I don't have to work for these shmucks anymore.

possibly an error in the email, maybe the "15 weeks" was supposed to be "1.5 weeks"....maybe someone forgot to add the decimal?
