Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Too Much DEBT

Over $18B in debt with under $7B in annualized revenues. BAD!

And at current oil prices APC can't turn a profit. It should be selling for $3 per share compared to their peers. Short this stock.

I don't see this as gloating whatsoever, it's a simple (and accurate) observation. I, too, have moved on and am thankful for the experience I had while working at APC. You must be seriously bored if you hangout on this site and need popcorn for your enjoyment and entertainment. Perhaps you should find a hobby or practice living the Core Values....

Glad you got a new job, and even better if you found better perks. APC was a great place to work for overall employee perks. The only reason I could see wanting to leave would be an employee's supervisor. APC has a few of those that really need to go back to being a staff level employee. Other than that it has to be right at the top.

@HlNr7TF-5ees I have no need to gloat at all. Just reassuring others that there is other opportunity out there. APC isn't the elusive, big-titted blonde that she thinks she is

Maybe those who'd see it as gloating are the ones guilty in their own actions and are worried that poetic justice would come to them well deserved? Who knows. I have no need to point fingers, the company's performance requires no gloating, just amused observation....

And I may still be coming here a year from now. It doesn't mean I haven't moved on. It means I have a healthy sense of humor where karma is concerned.

Why gloat 2 months after the fact on an a lay off website if you've moved on to greener pastures? Is the assumption in what appears to be gloating correct? Maybe it's just reassurance that "it was for the best." I'm running out of popcorn.

@HlNr7TF-3gib Agreed. Now that I'm gone and got another job in a different industry, I see that APC isn't nearly as great as they'd want you to believe. There are so many things I tolerated because I thought I had to. Thanks APC for opening my eyes to both a better world and to your shortcomings.

Not me. I was exited after a career of serving apc. Now that I see what's left behind I wouldn't ever return. The execs should have made a deal and sold this company when Exxon wanted it..... Unless prices turn around and fast - there will be more layoffs for apc. And I hear it's coming again soon.

I am willing to bet in the long run that Anadarko is still around and strong. APC has a lot of debt, but so does everyone else. Give the executives some credit for keeping us going this long. This is still one of the best places to work anywhere. If you put yourself in a situation to be fired then that is on you. I have seen many employees that need to be fired hang around forever, so I don't think management is out looking to cut. We all still have it good, and a job. Many of those laid off would trade places with you in a second to have their jobs back.

More likely, they're telling employees how bad they're doing, therefore setting them up to be fired for manufactured reasons. Then they won't have to pay severance to them. Where they can do that, they will do that.

Are the APC chiefs discussing this issue openly (Open Communication...remember that one??) or are they sweeping it under the carpet and posting a FAQ document for your questions?

Yes. It's time to get out of APC stock. If you still work there (you know who you are) then its time to get out while you still can.
