Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Growth

It's not all that dismal as posters here want you to believe. There's lots of large projects going on at IBM at any time, and most are quickly announced. Watson, Blockchain, OpenWhisk, and Bluemix are all large publicly known initiatives going on, each with their own subset of interesting projects or roles to work on.

Really? Watson is all hype and will be soon relegated to nothingness when Google finishes their secret project. Watson is incredibly expensive to 'teach' and that's why you see it doing silly things like recipes and dresses. Or regurgitating trivia facts or medical information that's been fed into it. The other things are tiny areas where again IBM will be too slow to move and superceded by more nimble, progressive companies with better talent (now that IBM has been busy firing most of theirs). Bluemix was down for two days recently. Two days!! Not good for business. IBM cloud is far behind the other three, and the most unstable platform. Again, not good for business. Don't even get me started on the house of cards financial engineering and sixteen (!!) straight quarters of declining revenue with no end in sight. The execs are selling off their own stock and looting the treasury with big bonuses and dividends when the company can't afford it. Debt is sky high. Morale is extremely low. If it wasn't for the huge one-time gift of the Japanese tax settlement, EPS last quarter would have been 87 cents. There is nothing like that to shield this quarter's lack of revenue (so far) but I'm sure they'll cook something up. Why can't Watson save this company if it's so smart? IBM is not innovative and always chasing the technology.
