"When the tide goes out, you can see who is skinny dipping." If you work in the oil and gas industry, you have to save for the downturns. Just look at the history, it repeats. I have seen way too many people overspend when the times are good, and then "lose the house" as soon as the work dries up. Good luck to those that are laid off, I hope they were prepared.
Obviously people will deal with the situation at hand and do whatever it takes to provide for their families. The reality is that jobs are scarce. In the oil industry the paychecks are much larger than in other industries that are hiring. Some people can re-budget and dip into savings but some cannot. Your comment “deal with it or move on” is insensitive to those who cannot.
It is amazing to me how people prevail when faced with adversity. I pray for all the families affected by these layoffs.
"Deal with it and move on" is NOT a naïve comment, it is what it is. You must be the one living with mommy and daddy cause you don't know how to handle adversity. You're not in any position to decide whether you keep your job or not so in the event you're on the list, take your package, find another job and move on.
NOBODY is safe Bubba, not even you!!!!
All I know is that I'm safe and have a great top paying do little job. Chew tobacco and play on compooter
"Deal with it and move on". That is the most naive comment. Layoffs mean families are losing homes. Parents are having to sell everything just to make another house payment. Kids are uprooted from their homes and their lives. Just because you still live with your mommy and daddy doesn't mean everyone does.
Fact of the matter is there just isn't any work. Where new stuff is coming in, it just gets out sourced to groups with no work. The whole company is stretched too thin and has to downsize.......deal with it and move on.
Rumors are friday. No telling how many
