Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

WD Singapore to close down by end of Sep 2016.

Word has it that WD Singapore will close by end of Sep 2016. It was formerly a HOYA company bought over by WD in 2011 to acquire the laptop HDD know how after getting very little inroads to small form HDD. Previously, it bought 2.5 media from HOYA and Showa Denko for their top range laptop HDD.

All staff will be laid off by the end of the year except for a handful who were given a choice to move over to Penang.

Who are you Winson? Are you Esther direct supervisor or her husband?

How come you can know so well what Esther was doing? Why need you to deny something she had done? Are you one of her collude team members.?

Does WD Singapore also refer to HGST Singapore? Does that mean that HGST Singapore will also close?

The 700 -1000 staff......all gone in a poof. Many were from HOYA. They were lowly paid then until WD took over. Just when they see a glimpse of better future. This lay off happened. However it's inevitable with the current situation and low profit margin. WD being a business entity, has little choice expecially when Singapore's cost is much higher than many other places
