Thread regarding FMC Technologies Inc. layoffs

Has FMC hit a Partial Plan Termination for the 401(k)?

I'm not yet fully vested in the employer match (3 yrs to fully vest)

But I understand that if FMC lays off 20% or more of the 401(k) participants in a year, the plan is considered to have undergone a "Partial Plan Termination", and everyone who was laid off automatically becomes fully vested.

Does anyone know if this has happened? Were any people who were laid off "upgraded" to vested?

Tinfoil hat conspiracy theory: If FMC HR is aware of this and trying to avoid it, they may target people WITHOUT 401(k)'s to layoff. This is probably unlikely, but if it IS true, contribute to the 401(k) plan just once, ASAP, and you may be a little bit safer!
