I've heard some managers protect their favorites by asking them to go on "medical leave" to keep from getting laid off. Not sure if it is true or not, but some of you may know more

Won't work if the employee would have been terminated anyway despite the medical leave.....here is an interesting read (article based on TX law):

Heard that some ladies in the unconventional line of business took maternity leave to navigate the storm, could be true.....
