Thread regarding Colgate-Palmolive Co. layoffs

Knowing

Once upon a time, I was happy to be at Colgate palmolive. Endless opportunity and training. Now, I only see disparity and lack of appreciation for talent. If you are good at what you do stay away from this place.. I am seeing the worse in people. Even the golden people are leaving for better opportunity. If you don't speak Spanish...You job is going away...Let's be honest. .they are eliminating you ..not the job...The job is going to someone else in the us and Mexico. Sad times

The poignant fact that you point out is that there is TRULY no appreciation for technical talent in the global IT organization. It's been a sad, steady & disappointing decline over the past many years, but I'd say the past five or so, it has been quite palpable. While I agree with your summation -- especially the part about being happy in the early years (to paraphrase), I have to say that I would add one, pivotal point. The job IS being eliminated. At the risk of sounding like an India-basher, Sr. GIT management believe that they (GSSO) can be virtualized, and they can be counted on to take on more with the same headcount (1 = 3 or 4,...). As I've seen first-hand and heard being murmured so many times, the GSSO is NOT the answer, but they, especially MC, won't dare let one say that.

CP is all about M+M's, Mexico and Mumbai. What few US jobs are open are being filled with imports from other regions.
