Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Overseas American Factories - I Get That.

I understand having American factories overseas; with the exception of the currency devaluations. However, the direct replacement of American Workers here at home with cheap substandard H1Bs - that is taking things to the point of insult and stupidity. Especially when these companies have record quarterly profits in the billions and their CEOs continue to see exponential increases in compensation. Our corporate leaders have become blinded with greed and drunk on to many dollars. The big question is - If we allow this situation to play out unchecked for another five years, what will the country look like? American workers and American consumers made Intel the flagship company that it is today and it took decades. This loyalty has now been forsaken for greed and there will be many unforeseen consequences to come (e.g. more foreign competition, loss if IP, loss of the most highly skilled work force in the world, the weakening of the most stable government in the world, the loss of the most significant consumer market in the world, and the loss of the American standard of living). Most of the damage has already been done. It is time to write your congressmen and request the immediate cancellation of the HB guest worker programs.

How much of this is Corporations desire to cut costs versus returns of 60%+ gross margin that institutional shareholders expect?

It has also gotten much worse under BK with his false initiatives to solely put $$$ in his pockets.

American worker is the only loser IF the H-1B worker is underqualified and yet gets a position over the American just because of pay and not quality.

Foreign worker is not a loser coming here to work for less than 30% of US standard pay. If it were a losing situation, he wouldn't do it.

So, you have 1 loser and 2 winners in a proper analysis.

Obviously! There are 2 losers here and only 1 winner. Loser #1: American worker who is qualified to take the job but doesn't want to work for 30% less than standard pay Loser #2: The foreign worker who IS willing to work for less than 30% of standard pay to live in American for several years. Winner: US Corporations who buy off Congress to pass laws that allow them to import cheap labor.

"It is time to write your congressmen and request the immediate cancellation of the HB guest worker programs."

while your are at it.

Please also write your local congressmen to pass a bill to refund all of social security and medicare taxes payed by all H1, L1 visa holders who wish to return to their country as they will never be availing those retirement benefits in the US on a temp visa . Also make this law apply retroactively to all H1,L1 visa holders (like myself) who have already left the country, just send them a refund check to their home country so we can buy a private retirement annuity plan with our money in our country .

Thank you.
