"Disconnect between vision and reality"

Approves of CEO
I have been working at Wind River full-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
There are excellent employee benefits, and a very good sense of work/life balance. The campus is nice and they frequently have on-site workout classes and other benefits like car-washes and massage therapists.
The industry is exciting and you have the added benefit of being part of the Intel family. Lots of people here have been employees for over ten years, giving credibility to the idea that Wind River wants to keep employees for the long term, unlike many Silicon Valley turn-and-burn shops.
Cons
The upper management seems to be in constant turmoil as of late, largely in line with Intel's own problems. You get the impression that the leadership wants to take the company back to a 'startup' focus, while the employees want to keep a more comfortable, established work routine.
The company is a victim of its own success in that it's been doing the same thing successfully for so long that it's forgotten how to adapt or handle new challenges. You get the impression working here that the industry as a whole is moving on and Wind River is struggling to convince everyone that its still relevant. Combine this with the fact that there are 10+ year veterans everywhere, and it means that there's very little room for career advancement.
For those employees who are committed to working hard and treating this new situation like a 'startup', it can be very frustrating because managers and critical team members always seem to be on vacation or out of the office.
Advice to Management
Lead, don't manage. You can't expect people to embrace change when they can tell that you don't believe in your own vision.
