_To have a career and rise up the ranks in Intel, you have to be in the inner circle of your manager and the higher ups of your department. I know of several colleagues who are just Powerpoint pushers but spends many weekends cycling with the big bosses and happy hour drinking and entertaining the big bosses, these few colleagues have all went up the ranks pretty fast. And when CoC charges filed against the Dept Head that he only promotes those that are in his inner circle who cycles and drinks with him, HR quickly overwrites the case and CoC case closed!
So for those who play the game and in the inner circle of the bosses, yes they have a career. For all others, no you don't.
However, after too many years in Intel you start to believe in Intel's inward looking vision, which has nothing to do with reality._
