Let us look into one very good post, so we can start from it building some ad-hoc conclusions, trying to understand how to save significant bucks to INTEL and protect hard working bees (who were hit very hard in this primal A.C.T.).
The post is the following: Salaries @ INTEL USA revealed/published - @HVQK9O2
With the bunch EE (HW background) masters, ruling Intel (let us define these masters: Grade 10: 230K~350K (exec level, equation changes drastically)), who are by all means Dead Wood.
GRADE 10: 230K~350K -> average is: (230+350)/2 ~ 290K annually. Let us assume that among 100K employees there are 10K of such "knowledgeable" masters/FLMs (btw, they even do not know/forgot what fan-out term is), since some have 20 direct reports, some 3 to 4. Another 10K PEs, falling in this equation. In total, 20K Grade 10 employees!?
So, if company puts 5K of these Dead Wood (anyway, they are useless Dead Wood, most of intellers know that), it will save circa $1.5 B USD annually. I should say, 7K of these should be forced out, so it makes savings around $2B annually.
But if we assume that there is one Dead Wood PE per Dead Wood FLM, freeing another 7K PEs (who btw do NOT have almost any technical expertise, just sell around political BS), will bring savings to 4B USD annually.
It leaves 3K FLMs + 3K PEs. Which is far enough for the size of 80K company (after dropping 14K Dead Wood worth $4B in total).
Thoughts?
