How long will the HDD survive? Is the Sandisk acquisition going to work out for WD in the near term? How much R&D capital is left for HDD R&D?
How long will competitor Seagate survive? It looks like they are poised for more layoffs to come.
Both companies thought acquisitions are the way of the future. How many of those acquisitions are duds? They should have been investing more money in their core business going back five years ago instead of pleasing shareholder for short term gain sacrificing the long term.
