The woman running Intel's most important business explains why she's not afraid of the cratering PC market

"Certainly, PCs continue to be a very large and wonderful market for us, but what is really exciting is the billions of other devices — that’s where the growth is going to come from," Bryant said at the Bloomberg Technology Conference held in San Francisco on Tuesday. "You’re talking about billions and billions of devices."

IoT is back to 8 bit or even less. How much computing or communications does simple sensor need. Very little.

8-Bit

16-Bit

32-Bit

64-Bit

And now back down to 32-bit support for the mobile devices and Innernets-of-Thingy's... now that's growth! (and I do understand the physics of "power consumption," but some industry experts years past do not... like Ray Kurzweil... the one pushing all this garbage...)

These newer chips will be necessary to power the infrastructure for the emerging Internet of things market, in which airplanes, electrical grids and other devices are connected to the web. Bryant believes that these “billions of devices” will “dwarf” the number of mobile devices currently being used and represents a big opportunity for Intel.

Good that ARM licensees are going to endless meetings, playing politics and trash talking/trolling in the cyber newspapers. ;-)

Get to rehab, Diane, before is too late.

Typical nonsense - something new will come with 100x profit or volume and make Intel super rich. Examples from the past like networking, WiMAX and LTE and McAffee show you Intel leaders are only good in wishful thinking and not delivering.

She's not afraid because she is one of BK's minons and nothing will happen to them until the ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean. The worker bees will pay the price for their ineptness until then.
