Changing their behavior today won't do diddly for the hundreds of thousands of former students who got their lives destroyed by the toxic and predatory debt of the past. Without addressing this toxic and life crushing debt ruining the lives of a majority of past customers this place is doomed.
I remember when nursing began--they thought they'd get a lot of high-end students & kind of wanted them in separate classes (such as composition), so they would not mix in with the "typical" students--I think they were afraid of what all the "nurses" would think about enrolling.
For the last year, we have been working at getting the nursing program accredited by ACEN. Bah! A pipe dream. ITT may not have accreditation of any kind by the time this is all over!
ITT seems to be mentally unable to change, as though it must always be inflexible. For example, if a student sits in a class one time, then is seriously hospitalized, the instructor is deemed to be ineffective, since that student did not finish the course. The students are horribly unreliable, and have many issues (no car, incarceration, pregnancy, family issues, job loss, etc)--so a class of 4 may easily (and often) have 1 drop--so the instructor is unfairly "punished" for an only 75% completion rate....now everyone at all levels will say "yes, this is true".,. "I agree its an issue", then end with "but that's the way it is". This kind of thinking applies to way too many scenarios.
Applicant can't qualify for financial aid, due to bankruptcy, child payments, garnishment, etc--well TOO BAD for the financial aid reps, their percentage falls below "allowable" metrics & they must be fired--even though everyone recognizes the issue--but instead just keep marching along to the old song. Instead of helping, this make them paranoid & cutting corners (doing anything) to keep the metric up.
Who is left to turn the agency around, though?
All that is left of ITT-Tech infrastructure is fraudulent executives and brainwashed management, and a large sales staff.
Hundreds of part time, temporary, low-paid adjunct faculty are hired to occupy the thousands of students for a few hours each week.
Cheap, outdated facilities and poor curriculum are worthless.
Employees with integrity, experience in highly coveted STEM fields, and qualified in educational services, are long gone.
ITT-Tech has poured funds and initiatives into its struggling nursing programs for years, with little improvement seen, in spite of guidance by state nursing boards.
Can ITT-Tech management say they are failing because ACICS did not give them correct guidance? A new accreditation agency can't turn around ITT-Tech, or build a new ITT-Tech.
First steps in the right direction. These guys need to be on a very short chain for a very long time if they are to turn the agency around.
