Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Horrible Citrix Managers

There are a number of horrible incompetent managers in Citrix offices (fort Lauderdale, santa clara, Bangalore, hydrabad). While hard working employees such as myself continue to get laid off, these as** somehow get by. If you have a horrible boss, who you think should be fired before anybody else, feel free to mention them.

I used to work in Santa Clara office and report to a manager in Hyderabad, who was a nasty psychopath. I couldn't take it anymore so decided to leave. Citrix doesn't have any accountability any more for manager performance, which is the main reason for its downslide.

There is no doubt that there needs to be a differentiation between hard and hardly working. When a door is closed, one should be able to and make an attempt to see other doors or windows or other openings around.

Hardworking people who are letdown should make a self review of what went wrong. One may work hard but may not be suitable for a teamwork, or may be adamant or may be non co-operative or may make many wrong decisions on

a) team dynamics (protective attitude, personal touch more than merrit, unknown or unwanted biases...) or

b) product features or

c) process followed.

Hardworking doesn't mean effective and efficient working always. The writing will be clear on the wall - falling sales, no innovations, customer complaints, team murmurs, non-coperation from other teams or seniors...the effected person may not be solely responsible for any of the above, but being a silent spectator to any of these may also add to the problems one may face at a further point in career, This is more predominant at mid level career when many tend to work for long hours to showcase they are hardworking, but again, one may not be effective or efficient.

Its badluck and unexplicable (past karma! as indian phylospohy says), if one one is hardworking and not falling into any of negative attributes as mentioned above, but still have to face an awkward situation of being letdown or letgone or career being marred by -ve remarks of lower performance case by some decision makers.

No one is an exception - take the case of mark, gordon, amith, sumith, vishal..... and so on. many have faced this situation. Even the most powerful or most techi or most innovative or most aggressive....they have faced this situation sometime in their career.

This trend of discriminate hirings / replacements, discriminate salaries and perks and discriminate firings are the gifts of the so called IT and software related companies spread to other sectors of the world!

Remember, past is past, If you get opportunity do not make the environment around you suffer similarly and the area of your influence can be a great place to work for your colleagues, teams, seniors...

disclaimer: I am not and never was associated with citrix directly or indirectly. i visited this site as i got some news about one of our known person whom we regarded as good, being letgone and the above were the discussions we had.

"there's a global economic slowdown." - what? Have you seen what the local market for engineers looks like? Let alone the national market? The hiring market right now is actually quite good, from Miami all the way up to Melbourne. This isn't either 2008 or 2011. We never know what's going to happen 4 years down the road (IT/software markets are always cyclical). But right now, the job market for developers is quite bullish.

@HUCRKx8-zeb: a mixture of semi permanent paranoid state blended with a pinch of " I believe everything I am told " mood. Completely rubbish this company is completely f---ed, no matter the global situation.

The "boss" sure ain't gonna fire themselves...

You need to research who the "bosses" truly are, 'cause as a once wise philosopher once said, "it's a BIG club, and you ain't in it..." - George Carlin

You either become your own "boss," or just keep slaving away... regardless if you're able to work remotely for a few days a week... look around you... there's a global economic slowdown... it's not ONLY happening at Citrix Systems...
