FTC looming, settlement inevitable, no admission of guilt on the horizon, VA audit going down the tubes, the tidle wave is crashing all around us. What does management do? Have round the clock meetings! What are they about? We don't know. We know they are not student focused, we know they aren't bettering our processes or services. What should they be about? colleague development, training schedules with colleagues, observation times with colleagues, how to effectively have a team meeting by team leads and Ada's and supervisors. Our directors, ghosts. When you have seen Erik Dirst in your work area more than your supervisor, manager or director, it's pretty sad. Will they ever listen? Nope, never, suggestions are frowned upon and a person is ostracized for doing such a thing! Meetings? Conducted in the most unprofessional and unorganized way, directors and managers walking in late like the meeting is a joke. They need someone to come in and give professional organizational classes to management. Not only do they have no one training their student facing people, but there is no management training for the managers and supervisors! Sure they offer classes on what and how to do things, but there is no follow thru or critiquing. This must change before we can get better!

My manager cancels or doesn't show up at half of our teams meetings. There was just a recent meeting with academics and one of the managers kept asking questions about the ebook fees which have been in place for months like she had no clue what they were talking about. It was embarrassing actually. I will agree they could show a lot more respect and professionalism and consistency. I would think student facing colleagues are the most important part of our organization because they are who the students interact with the most. The students come first obviously but second should be the student facing colleagues. It doesn't work like that around here in academics.
I will agree that managers and directors are not really prevalent. I've been here 4 years and never have had a manager or director in any of our team meetings. I have now idea how they manage or critique the supervisors or team leads. I feel sorry if these people ever have to get jobs at other companies. They will not be prepared to take on management roles. Especially showing up late for a meeting. But Devry has a lax attitude with that sorta thing.
