Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Contract People Step Inside

Did you get stung by the .50 commision multiplier too? Bottom dwelling management screws the SAL's once again. 4th commision cut in the last 15 months. Why SAL's are leaving en masse is beyond me.

@ GoodRiddanceSALs - I'd put money on it that you couldn't sell yourself out of a paper bag. It sounds like the world has passed YOU by. To win any business today margin has to be single digit. Buyers aren't the dummies SPLS believes them to be and differentiating from competition is SPLS only hope at this point.

"Let the next generation make money for this company" Oooo K. That would be the generation still playing in the sandbox? When the sandbox kiddies hit about the third grade.... this company will be gone.

"you lazy, incompetent, commission collecting CE carryovers are horrid as salespeople."

Staples got rid of the majority of CE reps since the takeover, 2 out of the 6 reps were "CE carryovers" in my office.

"All you do is renegotiate bad contracts and drop margin points, which is why your commissions have to be lowered."

SAL's didn't renegotiate bad contracts, the former ASM's and RSD's did that in conjunction with corporates wonderful Bid and Quote Department.

"Go away and let he next generation make money for this company. Go retire on your awful 401k's...the world has passed you by."

What makes you think a new generation can do any better when the RSD's have charge of all the SAL's since they eliminated the ASM position? The RSD level and up has never listened to the field, nor never will. They are the direct result of the company floundering along with mismanagement at the executive level. Put a SAL into a selling role from a relationship based AM role....FAILURE. Contrary to what you think, put resumes on the street with any company that utilizes a hunter/farmer model, managers LAUGH at Staples direction! I had one Executive VP tell me, Staples is so far behind the times with a Strategic Selling model, no one should question why they're floundering.

Honestly, it sounds like you're a legacy Staples SAL with a chip on your shoulder because your book of business has been culled and shifted inside, you were on the left side of the bell curve when the SAL commission structure was rolled out in 2013, and your leaders are giving up margin points and your commission suffers as a result of all their actions. Nice try though and keep drinking the Kool-ade that Framingham keeps passing to you.

I'm so glad I was terminated after a PIP...still got unemployment too! Can't fire a person for lack of an official policy and his subjective review of me during the PIP. .50 multiplier hardly makes it with coming in and working. Let see next are they going to change the mileage reimbursement after 150 miles instead of 100? Cut your monthly car allowance that gets taxed? Already took away the stock options.
