Around 150 people were let go today. Mostly affected was the Baltimore office for Brokerage Services. In KC, some managers, applications analysts, project leaders, and a few techs that I know of were shown the door. Once this shakes out, I hear there will be a smaller 'round 2', which has happened after previous reductions.

I left DST 10 years ago. It is a joke. Arrogant officers and VP's are worshipped by untalented idiots operating antiquated systems. Leave. There are so many better companies to work for. Young people: don't work there. You will regret every moment.
The writing has been on the wall for years regarding off-shoring. I understand people don't want to start over on their vacation accrual and other benefits, but you'll likely be happier regardless. You can still have lunch with your old crew.
Outsourcing is the model they are going with. Offshore workers are cheaper and better for the bottom line. If you are involved in IT there at all, you better start looking elsewhere so you don't get caught off guard. There will be another layoff within 12 months - count on it.
Good luck.
That previous comment should have read 'not quite as big', of course.
