Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Promotions / Boise Layoffs

What happened to promotions? The higher end employees go higher, but the lower end employees don't get a shot of moving up. Why?

Also, do you expect to see any job cuts in 2016 here in Boise? Any major cuts?

Management in this company will never change. The same old overstaffed management doing the same sh-- year after year; always guaranteed a job forever. That's why Micron will never any different tomorrow than it was today. Too many managers. Just ridiculous!

This last layoff didn't change anything. Lots of people standing around every day with nothing to do. Lots of endless internet lots of complaining and gossip. This place has become so unprofessional. What could night shift possibly be doing? If we have no work during the day when it is supposed to be the busiest shift, why would the company have employees to show up at night with no work? When did Micron decide it is a good company practice to employ people to do no work? What has happened to this company?. I don't understand.

Higher paid employees are considered "better"employees. A dedicated hard working operator or whatever comparable title fits a particular area who knows their "stuff" will always be considered an inferior employee. If there is a lousy lazy lead or an incompetent supervisor and there are always one or two, they will always be considered more valuable.A crappy lead is ALWAYS better than a competent operator just because they are a "lead". That's a huge part of the work force problem at Micron. Same old people doing the same job decade after decade just because they are there; not because they do a good job. What does a manager really know about what goes on on the floor. They only look at numbers, not realizing that the workers are responsible for the numbers not necessarily the leads or supervisor. There is good and bad in every job title but only "lower end" employees get the scrutiny and lay offs.
