Good employees will be left high and dry

I can understand how some students (past and present) & current and past employees can be bitter they may or have lost a job. What I find disturbing is 75% of the misleading, and not being honest did not come from middle level campus employees. You have a huge amount of people who were student accountants, deans, associate directors, directors, coordinators, registrars, librarians, etc. Who came to work each day who did the job(s), did more with less, gave over a 100 % with no support, who are long term employees who will likely lose a job. The years of no 401k, pitiful raises if at all, who oftem pay for a great many items out of pocket. These employees are well educated and all they wanted was to be paid and appreciated for the hard work...they will likely lose a job.

As much as it disgusts me, I've seen ex-employees go on to different jobs while parading their involvement with EDMC such as Dean, president, and academic advisor in their resume/online profile. So while the student's resume gets an automatic trash, these people have a free pass to get a job. Getting a pay cut is pretty much the best scenario for them since they can just simply wipe off their involvement with EDMC with their new job. I could say the same about teachers, but that would require them to actually have a degree first.

Not true. I know several people who have left and found jobs at state and private universities and colleges. Places you've heard of. Sometime it involves a pay cut - EDMC does pay comparatively well, or at least it has up to now, but the cut is worth it.

This belief that you won't have opportunities after EDMC is STUPID. You make your own opportunities and if you are having issues, problems, etc...Look in the mirror. I was getting job offers while at EDMC and now getting them after being laid off by EDMC. Whoever is saying we won't is an IDIOT. Period.

To all those replying to this saying every employee knows "what's going on" is diluting themselves. A large part of the employees have no idea what the enrolment practices are etc. Most of them truly do believe they are helping the students graduate and become successful. Most of them are frustrated with the lack of resources, doing the best with what they are given and would gladly do more if they were able. If some impropriety is going on I guarantee 90% of the employees have no idea. They are doing their job and not partial to the information you think they have.

Dear Original Poster,

How do you define a "good" employee? It must be that middle managers were "good" if they turned a blind eye to all the fraud that has taken place at these schools. "Good" employees left long ago since they chose not to be a part of this "bad" behavior. I don't feel sorry for those who are left and wouldn't hire you now.

How could employees not notice the change in the quality of student and the additional focus to help them graduate then help them get a job without the resources to help them be successful along the way. The increase of mental health issues of students made it tough to witness. Those who didnt see it either blinded themselves or were too far removed from day to day operations to notice.

If you worked at a college where you knew perspective students were being misled and you did nothing about it, you were complicit. It's that simple.

Everyone at my campus knew things were not going well because the campus president told us things were not going well. How did you miss the 11 billion dollar lawsuit?
