I am not making this up. The following excerpt is from a document for recruiters, available for any ITT-Tech faculty to read.
Language to Avoid: "Students will learn how…”
Reason: We cannot and do not guarantee that students will learn anything. It requires their involvement outside our control.
Alternate Phrasing: "Topics presented include…” or "Coursework covers subjects like…” or “Program instructors present…”
This is true. I got the same memo when I worked there. Teaching and Learning were words to avoid.
The REAL story is ONE student turned in a noodle soup recipient and got an A on the assignment.
When I worked at ITT a group of students turned in recipes copied and pasted from an internet cooking site for 1 whole quarter and only attended class once every three weeks - every student passed with a grade of A.
