Thread regarding CSC layoffs

Lots of layoffs, effective 1 June 2016...true.

Me as well as three others in my group were all given notice today that our last day is tomorrow, June 1, 2016. One day notice. I am not surprised, and not all that upset, working for CSC has been less than awesome. No raises for the last three years...this can't be anything other than good news. I would have preferred to leave on my own terms, but such is life. 16 years was probably 12 too many anyway.

Not only is it respectful to give workers proper time and notice when laying them off, but it could be the law. Advance notice is often required, under federal law, in some work places. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), for example, requires large employers (plants and big corporations) to give workers 60 days' notice before a closing or mass layoff. Aren't there requirements when a corporation lays of mass employees AND is a Federal contractor?

This is true, my wife was laid off after 4 years with the company, it became so stressful and so underpaid that this was all stupid. Good riddance CSC, I am happy she can move on but it's really not cool what they are doing to people

Sorry to hear this - I hope all turns out good for you.

I was let go in 2015, and it's better now, it was not easy to find a job. I am a Sys Analyst - 8 years of experience it took me 4 months to land a gig, still contracting.

Yet, they never fail to pay executive bonuses

There are MANY AMAZING PEOPLE WORKING FOR CSC and that is the only thing I miss, other than that I moved on

God bless

Yeah! CSC 'was' a real good company. I felt very bad about recent happenings in the orgnaization. Too m any mergers especially Covansys merger is a collapse. But the company was very good prior to that.
