Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Just Sad

Joined Shell over 30 years ago - one of the proudest days of my life as joining Shell really still meant something back then. Shell never really recovered from the infamous transformation of the 1990's which eroded everything that made the company distinctive and replaced it with - well, what exactly? I left the company in 2000, shocked at the lack of accountability in management but still have many good friends in Shell and follow what is going on. 2015 results were beyond shocking. Shell still means a lot to me and I am just sad at what lack of leadership has allowed this company to become.

Shell was a great company. Completely b---s--- now. Management looks at all ways to cut staff for the mess they created and wrong investments made.

That person also cut his nose off to spite his face. Wasted his money on things like the Elephant man, monkeys and Neverland.

You know what someone said: "If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change."

I had always wanted to work for Shell. I mean who didn't? I don't what happened. I worked in holland and the US . And then I left. It just wasn't fun anymore and I suspect it will a long while until Shell regains its footing. But it is a completely different company now. The Dutch bought another European company. Tells you something about culture too. However those incompetent DW leadership! Bullshit GOM "leaders" pissing away billions. Be careful. People are watching you.

Yep, I'm retired from Shell after 30 years and can relate. I agree, it was a wonderful and inspiring place to work for my first 20 years; the last 10/+ with the arrogant Brit/Dutch invasion, it was no fun. Granted, the very senior guys at SOC ran the company off the road and should've paid, but didn't, a penalty; but a lot of us seriously driven to do well out of pride had no influence on "brilliance and position". Times change and business practices do, too. So glad I'm out and happily retired. Mr "Dude, cry me a river" poster, hope your asshits the pavement first in this latest round - you can KMA. :-))

Well. I agree shell staff are some of the smartest people I know. But. They just don't know how to law money. It's a business after all not an endless science project. But leadership is indeed to blame - there are so few shell leaders worth emulating. They really don't care about the company or its people. Just their own hides.
