Thread regarding VMware Inc. layoffs

rumors are out again.. who has heard what?

I recently overheard some senior directors for a list of under performers and overpaid employees.

There are some closed doors meetings going on in Palo Alto.

One reliable source said, "Engineering is going to be affected the most & talks of outsourcing more products out of Palo Alto"

But again, they are still rumors. let's keep each other informed.

It finally happened and a couple people did leave last week. Doesn't look look like this group will ever settle! Not sure where these execs came from, but in promise not to work in those companies ever.

I was there when the EMC-Dell talks started, even though the management assured multiple times that nothing's gonna happen or nobody's gonna touch you and i'll protect you, it happened. 600 people were let go without any notice or any warning. They didn't have courtesy to see you in the eye and say anything, so written statements were read to lay people off and a VP of MSBU was missing the whole day it happened. He was probably hiding his face so that no one asks him questions about his leadership. and that's how it is at vmware right now. It's probably going to happen again soon, as something tells me, those 600 were just a beginning.

It feels so good to be out of that sh-- hole, i will never advise anyone new to work for this company unless you know someone or have a Godfather's hand over your head. All the very best for your journey.

Doesn't look like sales would be affected seeing June 1 would screw the quarter. I just started as an SE less than 3 months ago. I don't know how quota carrying specialist SEs have done in other layoffs but it's aweful to come into a company and deal with this sh--. Hard to be excited about a long term future. Anyone at vmw during the EMC acquisition?

They have to cut, there is no other way to make the math work for the Dell acquisition.
