Quarterly earnings report makes a statement about operational savings

Quarterly earnings came out. In the conference call CEO Steve Milligan hinted that the company will now realize $800 million in annual savings from eliminating redundancies from the WD/HGST merger. This is up from a previous estimate of $650 million a year. Savings in operating expenses will be $450 million annually. Two-thirds of these savings will be realized by end of 2017. Ontop of that the outlook for HDDs is weak. Its going to be ugly, folks.

My kids use their cell phone for everything except typing school papers. Cell phones don't have HDD. But they do backup on iCloud (e.g. enterprise HDD). My guess is pc/laptop HDD is going the way of the dinasour quickly.
