Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

OD blames Q1 shortfall on stalled merger. YEAH RIGHT; fewer people bought stuff because they were waiting for the merger to go through :-/

"The people at the top need to get paid too"

Haaa...... The people at the top are already way overpaid for the sh--ty job they do. How many consecutive quarters of failure does Ron have to his credit????

"I hope this merger goes through so we can weed out the untalented"

Ron and Otis are the biggest failures in this company.

The people at the top need to get paid too. If you don't have the skills to find a new job maybe you're not qualified to work here in the first place. I hope this merger goes through so we can weed out the untalented. (And get PAID)!

I ran out of paper for my printer a week ago. I've been trying to print on toilet paper, but I'm nearly out of that too and the DAMN MERGER HAS STILL NOT GONE THROUGH! If I have to wait a day longer I'll be wiping my asswith my hand and transcribing everything onto parchment BECAUSE I'M WAITING FOR THE MERGER TO GO THROUGH BEFORE ORDERING ANYTHING!

Well at least I can scribe with my own sh-- as ink and use leaves to wipe my ass.. I can make it till the merger goes through. I'll show you bastards.

RON RON RON unlock the door RON can you hear us? OK security, break into the stall...

Amazon is not the place to work for. They are a glorified sweatshop. Even at corporate levels, their associates are treated the same, if not worse, than staples/OD. There is plenty of literature out there on working conditions. I lived it. I left Staples after almost 4 years as an ETE to work for Amazon with hopes of advancement. Not only do you get the emotional stress there, but you are hit with physical stress royally. I lasted 1.5 years own said goodbye.

Amazon is truly an innovative company that will be around for a long time. Amazon, as a business, is head and shoulders above Staples and Office Depot. It is not their competition. Staples and OD do NOT compare to Amazon and they're not doing anything in the ballpark of Amazon. It's a shameful arguement for their merger.

Ron and Roland can go on and on about how the buyout is needed for the two companies to continue to compete with Amazon, Walmart, etc. The real reason the FTC is fighting it is that the buyout will only be beneficial for a select few.

These two do not care about the future of their companies, they only care about a big payday for themselves.

Either way, together or apart, Staples and OD are Jenga towers , just waiting for the right (or wrong) piece and they will topple down. Get out now! Those at the top have their golden parachutes, when the tower falls they will be fine, it will be everyone else that perishes in the collapse. Get out of the toxic environment.

Absolutely true! No one will benefit from this merger whether it goes through or not. Except of course for the geniuses who destroyed these two companies. Anyone who believes things will get better or you're just hanging in there to see what happens and are not making forward movement for your own benefit, you are going to get screwed even more than you are now. You mean nothing to this company. Do everything for your own benefit NOT this company. Take all you can from what's left and get out.

Staples has been trying to shed people for 4 years now. The message is starting to sink in and they are seeing a mass exodus in some districts and regions.

Either way the buyout falls Ron and Roland and their cronies will make out just fine while everyone else gets screwed royally. Whether it is right after the buyout during the consolidation period or a few years down the road, neither company is prepared for the long haul, combined or separately. They know this, and the buyout was only an attempt to manipulate the stock prices in order to bring in a big payday for a select few.

Get your CVs updated and get out of there ASAP - the sh--'s going to hit the fan starting the 2nd half of this year and things will continually get even worse no matter what Judge Sullivan decides about the buyout. Combined or separate, both these companies are toxic stress balls that will have one goal - make as much money for the few at the top at the expense of the many.

What OD is saying, is that if they had more money and power, all of a sudden, they'd be able to make genius business decisions.

It's sad to see this. This is what you call absolute greed. They are all showing their true colors and have no shame.

These two companies are working so hard for a merger that will layoff thousands, close hundreds of business sites (retail, DCs, corporate offices), and leave thousands of families in financial hardship; all so a choice few may get there pockets filled with dirty money. This merger will not save Staples nor Office Depot. This merger will not benefit the majority of its workforce or the national economy in any way. THIS MERGER WILL NOT HELP THE BIG BOSSES MAKE BETTER BUSINESS DECISIONS!!!

Theses are two old companies that have no place in our modern world. They were not able to transform and grow with changing times and demands. Nothing will save them from an inevitable end, not even a merger.
