I'm an Ex Intel guy. Worked with many great Indian engineers and PEs while in Intel and also some who were not so great. You can't blame Intel's current demise on Indian talent.
Intel could have diverted its workforce to more profitabble and growing markets. It prefers to get rid of more expensive, older workers in exchange for cheaper RCBs and H1Bs. It's heartless business and being a manager in a multinational company requires you to be an a--hole.
With Indian taking many important positions, creating dirty politics intel is no hope
Obviously these layoffs are just the beginning, we have site closures and project cancels yet to face.
The PC market is in terminal decline. Intel is about to lose the mobile phone market completely while on the verge of losing the server market.
Yeah, no sh--, Intel is going to have to layoff 90% of the employees in 10 years time.
It should not be any surprise that "Moore's Law" was dead two technologies ago, but executives kept preaching this crap. Oh, yeah! Moore's Law as a long time pillar dead and buried. Now we have "BK's Law" which states that a certain percentage of older workers will now receive ssl4 unjustly each year and then receive ISP.
I feel the same thing. It hasn't been the Intel we all knew for quite some time now (16 yr employee, soon to be retiring early on 6/24 as I'm DONE with this company).
I'd prefer to watch the decline/drama from afar. Moving on!
It wasn't just him. It was years of inept executives making head scratching decisions and acquisitions while refusing to see or believe the obvious decline of PC's. Of course, they still get fortunes in salaries and bonuses while the hard workers get tossed out on trash day. Is it too late for Intel to survive? Signs say yes, it's too late for any hope of long term relevance.
So, all it took, was one corporate brute, to bludgeon this old and dying company to death.
